Westrand Car Show - AC Petite Mk II

AC Petite Micro Car

We have previously featured the British Company AC Cars in three

other posts. AC Cars 1903 – 1955, AC Cars 1956 – 2012 (which included the Cobra) and the AC Invacar, which was a car specifically designed for invalids.

AC Cars also built the Petite which is a three-wheeled micro car. It ran on a rear-mounted 350 cc Villiers single cylinder, two-stroke engine. The car has a single bench seat seating two adults. Fuel consumption was between 4.0 and 4.7 litres per 100km.

There were two versions of the AC Petite. In the first two years it was fitted with a Villiers 27B engine and two different wheel sizes. The two rear wheels were 460mm (18 inch) and the single front wheel 200mm (8 inch).

The Mark II version was launched in 1955 which had some cosmetic improvements as well as a stronger engine (Villiers 28B) and a single size for the three wheels of 12 inches.

Non-Competitive vehicles may enter at the gate on the day.
