He was the star in the greatest 45 minutes of all time in any form of sport.

In the 1930’s most athletics events were measured in yards. Today we use meters.  A yard is equal to 1.09 meters. Jessie Owens equalled the 100 yards sprint world record in a time of 9.4 seconds.

He then broke the 220 yards (201meters)World record at 20.3 seconds. Then he broke the 220 yards hurdles World Record in 22.6 seconds. Finally, he broke the World long jump record of 26 feet 8¼ inches or 8.13 metres.

One of the great sporting moments of all times.

Jessie went on to win 4 gold medals at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.

In the same year Auto Union were developing the great Silver Arrows Racing team. Hans Stuck, Achille Varzi and Bernd Rosemeyer were driving for Auto Union.
Hans Stuck won the Italian Grand Prix. Achille Varzi won the Tunis Grand Prix. Bernd Rosemeyer won the Masaryk Grand Prix at Brno in Czechoslovakia. Brno is today a venue on the motor cycle racing calendar.

In that same year a range of new cars were released.

We feature below a Riley, A Skoda and an Alvis.
