In ten days time the Bonhams “Aston Martin” Auction takes place (19th May 2019). You can fly to the UK to see the collection before making your bid or you can register and bid on line. There’s a whole list of items up for auction including autographed pics of “James Bond” with his Aston Martin. There are badges, Tool kits (unused), clothing and other numerous items of memorabilia. There are also a whole lot of rare Aston Martins up for auction.Tea Garden, cakes and puddings Worsbroodjies & Footlongs
The least expensive car will be this mechanic’s dream or nightmare, depending on your point of view. It is an ultra rare 1959 Aston Martin DB MkIII Sports Saloon Project Car. It is left hand drive and is the only Automatic Aston Martin DB Mk III sports saloon made with LHD. Only two other LHD automatics were built but they were convertibles. Bonhams Auctioneers expect it to go for anything between R1,500,000 and R2,000, 000. Then there’s VAT on top of that, some customs and excise, shipping costs and who knows how much to complete the resoration.
Perhaps you would prefer something a little more “driveable” with a lot less work. You may like this 1963 Aston Martin DB4 series V Convertible that should go for around R12, 000, 000 to R13, 500, 000 plus taxes, excise shipping, insurance etc. At least its RHD so you won’t have a problem licensing it. Word of warning though – if you do buy it make sure you lock your wallet/handbag etc in the boot!
Or you could just enter your special car/ hot rod, street custom or motorbike for the 31 August 2019 Show. We have some other stuff on Aston Martin here.
